What an incredible marching season it has been—it's hard to believe we're already wrapping up Bandtober and stepping into November! As we head into an exciting stretch of events, we encourage you to read through this entire update so you don’t miss any important details.
Senior parents, please pay special attention—we’ve included key information about this Thursday’s Senior Night to help you prepare for this memorable evening.

Spirit Night at Torchy’s Tacos Wednesday, November 5th
Mark your calendars for our next spirit night. Please support the Elkins Band & Guard and order from Torchy’s Tacos (Sienna Crossing 9004 Sienna Crossing Drive Suite 100) on Wednesday, November 5th from 4PM – 9PM. Torchy’s will be donating 15% of net purchases for dine in and take out, only.
Band and Guard Photo Day Thursday, November 6th
Band and Guard picture day will be held Thursday, November 6th during their respective band/guard class period. Students will take an individual photo and there will be an opportunity to purchase a composition group photo. Please fill out the electronic form and choose the package or individual photos you want. Football vs Hightower (Senior Night) Thursday, November 6th
Thursday, November 6th, we will be playing against Hightower at Hopson. It is the last football game of the regular season, and the band and guard seniors will be recognized at half time. All senior parents, we will need you to arrive at Hopson around 7:30pm (meet where the band sits) so that we can prepare and confirm positions prior to half time. The band and guard will not perform during half time at this football game.
Parents of seniors, please dress as you see comfortable. You can dress up or dress casually. We recommend that you skip the heels as they may get stuck in the field! Remember that the photo op on the football field is with you and your student that will be dressed up in their marching uniform.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the upcoming football game: we need assistance in the following areas - coolers, meal distribution, and traffic director. Please go to our volunteer page to sign up.
Shoes and Tunes - November 15, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Join us for “Shoes and Tunes,” a special shoe drive and live music event featuring the Elkins Gold'n Blues Jazz Ensemble, taking place on Saturday, November 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Elkins Student Parking Lot. Drop off pairs of gently worn, used, and new shoes and stay to listen to the live performance.
Our goal is to gather 100 bags of shoes. If you have shoes to donate, but are unable to drop them off on November 15, please drop them off at the school’s main entrance by December 5.
Tuesday, December 2nd Volunteer Appreciation Event
We made it through another marching season! The board and directors are thankful for all the sweat, tears, money, and time you put into making it one of the best in the band program's history. How lucky are we to have a talented band parent capturing all the amazing moments this marching season? Band dad Jonathan Nelson has generously set up a website — JonathanNelsonPhoto.com — where you can browse and purchase his incredible photos of our students in action!
High-resolution digital downloads are available for $2.50 each, and print options include 4x6 ($3), 5x7 ($5), and 8x10 ($8) sizes. Once purchased, you’re welcome to print your downloaded images in any size or quantity at home or through your favorite photo lab.
