Band and Guard Booster Update: Spirit Night Tonight, Away Game this Week, Volunteer Opportunities and more

Elkins Band & Guard Family,


What a fantastic way to kick off football season—with a win!   Our Band and Guard students looked amazing as they debuted “Metalmorphosis” on the field. A huge thank-you to our incredible parent volunteers and supporters who came out to cheer on the students—it means so much!  Next up: we face Dawson High School in Pearland. We hope to see you there to keep the energy high and the support strong!


If you purchased the rehearsal pizza plan for your student, it will be served on Thursday, September 4th at 4:00 pm this week. Please remind your student to pick up their pizza. 


If you picked up an item from our Supply Tree on registration day, this is a friendly reminder to drop it off at the band hall.   A big thank-you to everyone who has continued donating snacks and drinks—your support keeps our students going! Please keep the donations coming by sending them to the band hall. Students can place items in the designated area. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Spirit Night at Portillo’s Wednesday, September 3rd 5PM- 8PM

Support the band and guard this week by ordering some delicious Chicago-style street food from the Stafford Portillo's location at 12419 Southwest Freeway this Wednesday, September 5th from 5 to 8 p.m.


The digital code on the flyer (PORTILLOS94) allows us to include Portillo's direct advance PICKUP orders in our fundraising night total!  To help us get the credit, bring in the flyer, show it on your phone, mention the organization prior to checkout, or place a direct advance pickup order using the digital code. Anyone going through the drive-thru must inform the first order-taker for it to count. Gift card purchases, delivery orders, and orders placed on third-party websites (DoorDash, UberEats, PostMates, etc.) are excluded from the fundraiser.



Elkins vs. Pearland Football Game – Friday, September 5th

This Friday, September 5th is our first away game.  We will be playing against Dawson High School at Pearland ISD Stadium.  This stadium is nicknamed “The Rig,” so they mean business! Come out and watch the game and see our Band and Color Guard perform at half time!  The band staff will send notifications via Band App on their estimated arrival back to the school following the game.  

It is imperative that you are there to pick up your student on time or arrange in advance for them to catch a ride with a friend.  Please park in the designated area and wait for your student to come to you.  Remember that students must unload, put up equipment (have uniforms checked in when we start wearing them), etc. before they can leave.  So be patient.  It is important that you park in a parking spot in the student lot closest to the parking lot attendant building (near the entrance of the lot) and wait for your student to come to you. There is no "pick up line" and it is a safety issue to have cars moving near the band hall when students are coming and going.  


Volunteers needed for this week’s football game and other tasks

Volunteers are still needed to assist with help with the upcoming Dawson football game:  unloading equipment, empty ice chests, and traffic director.  Please go to our volunteer page to sign up.

We will continue to update the Booster volunteer page with additional opportunities for you to volunteer at football games.  Please do take the time to review the  Band Parent Volunteer Guidelines.



Football Tickets Purchasing Link

Tickets for the football season can be purchased here:  Elkins High School Events and Tickets by GoFan.  If you are a bus chaperone for a football game, you do not need to purchase a ticket.  All other volunteers, guests must purchase a ticket.

FBISD Volunteer Background Checks

If you plan to help the band in any capacity this school year you must complete an annual background check with the school district. This applies for any help you may provide at a football game, contest or on campus. FBISD clears the volunteer list every year on July 1st, and a new application is required. Click the following link to complete Background Check If you have issues, please contact FBISD Human Resources at 281-634-1270.   Once you complete the form, please forward a copy of the approval email to Lyra Gulfo, vicepresident@elkinsband.org.

In addition to the weekly newsletter that you will receive from the EHS Band and Guard Boosters (posted on Booster Hub and Band App), we highly recommend that you download the Band Calendar and Band App to stay on top of what’s happening with the band program.
